Experience description:

After my grandmother died, on 4/26/2011, 3 days later at 10pm, there was 1 SINGLE bird somewhere in my front tree in my front yard, and when I was at my business late at night (we closed at 11pm, so I often stop by to help out my husband, (a warehouse that is a  indoor race track) the track is around 5-7 miles from my home.  THIS BIRD SANG, AND BARKED

VERY, VERY, LOUD - like it wanted my attention, and it did it for about 4 nights, for hours starting every night starting around 9-10pm, and go on till 2am.  I immediately had a feeling that somehow it was my grandma trying to get my attention, I wanted to talk to it for hours, but because it was in my front yard and I have neighbors, I simply had a short talk with the bird, saying " grandma if this is you, I love you dearly and will miss you, and a little more. There was And I mean loud! AND WHAT ARE THE ODDS I WOULD HEAR ONE SINGLE BIRD AT MY BUSINESS MILES AWAY? Because my grandmother had just died, we had relatives staying with us and so because my sister was staying with me, my mom also was staying the night at my house to spend some time with her, and she was the only one with me during this time, as everyone else would either be at my grandpas helping him at his house, or my husband and daughter were at our indoor race track working.

Anyways, when my mom heard it she said "oh my gosh Amber, your right, I think it is grandma telling us she's here" LIKE ME, SHE WAS BEYOND SHOCKED HOW LOUD IT WAS, AND HOW IT WAS ONLY ONE BIRD DOING THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, she also couldn't stop thinking about it, and called my aunt the next day who is 15 miles away, and told her, and she said she hear a bird at night in front of her house, and just as I was my grandma's favorite grandchild, my aunt was her favorite daughter.  It even made my mom angry then, and even now, that my grandma choice us to visit.  One night (6months after my grandmas death) my mom got in a fit, bring up how she never felt loved by grandma, and was still upset my aunt and I got a visit from her.  Anyways I have no doubt that the bird was either my grandma, or a sign, a vessel, or maybe when one dies something happens till you go to heaven, either way I have no doubt, NEVER ONCE IN MY LIFE HAVE I HEARD A BIRD AT NIGHT, NOR HAVE I AGAIN SINCE THEN. AND BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY ONE BIRD, I KNOW IT WASN'T SOME ODD NATURE THING GOING ON EITHER. I ALSO WANT TO STATE, I AM SOMEONE WHO IS A REALIST, NEVER IN MY LIFE HAVE I HAD A GHOST EXPERIENCE, OR SOMETHING UNNATURAL, AND DON'T BELIEVE IN 98% OF GHOST STORIES, SO AS MUCH AS I LOVE MY GRANDMA, I WOULD NEVER SAY I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMEHOW HER, UNLESS I WAS A 100% CERTAIN, AND I AM. EVERYONE WHO HEARD IT CAN STATE THE SAME THING, IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?     Yes   cause when it happened, I didn't know how to respond back or what to do, or say, as I didn't want neighbors seeing me talk to a bird.

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them? Uncertain

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?   Uncertain

Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:     I heard this bird almost screaming to get my attention at home and at my business.

Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?   I wish I could say I knew what the bird was saying, other than that it was trying to get me to acknowledge it, like "IM HERE" and it wouldn't stop.  It was at the point where I felt bad for leaving it outside, as my grandma was someone who always got cold, and I thought "if this is her, she must be cold right now, and would be mad at me for not letting her in"

If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?     no, it sounded nothing like my grandma

Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?   no, I live in the desert in Las Vegas, we don't EVER HEAR BIRDS AT NIGHT, NEVER.  NEVER IN MY LIFE, AND NEVER AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE.  AND THIS BIRD WAS ESPECIALLY LOUD, AND ALL BY ITSELF.

Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   NOPE, BECAUSE BESIDES ME 3 OTHER PEOPLE HEARD IT, AND THEY TOO HAVE NEVER, EVER HEARD A BIRD LIKE IT.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?    Experience was definitely real    I believe it was real for the following reasons:

I live in the desert in Las Vegas, where people come to four wheel, go off roading. Never in my life have I heard a bird at night, and it was so loud like it was trying to get my attention.  It was all alone, and I heard the same bird at my track 5 miles away, I also wasn't the only one to hear this bird, and because my aunt and I were her favorite before her Alzheimer's, she would pick us two to visit.

Was the experience dream like in any way?    No

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?    Yes    I just felt honored she tried to see me. And now I am 100% sure there is life after death.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?    best was hearing the bird at my track also, to me it verified she was trying to get my attention, the worst part, was that I felt I didn't do enough, like I should of talked to it more, etc.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?    Yes    As unnatural as that bird sounding was, I wanted to hear other after death stories, so I got a chicken soul book about stories of people writing their experiences of things that happened after someone died in their life, some I believed while most I didn't

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?    Yes    I believe there is life after death with all my heart, I just don't know what we become after death, maybe there is vessels, I just have no clue, and like I said I am a realist, so I am more uncertain what we become after death than ever, other then that I do believe in God, and life after death.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?   No

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?    Yes    my mother

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?     No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?    No

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?    No

Did you see a light?    No

Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described above?   Yes    like I said above besides my front yard tree at my house, I also heard this single bird at my indoor race track which is like 5-7 miles away

Have you shared this experience with others?    Yes    Well I had many others that heard this bird, besides me, there was my aunt, my mom, and neighbors and customers, with the neighbors and the customers, they also too couldn't stop saying how unnatural it was.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?    No
