Experience description:

As a child my grandfather spent a lot of time with me, teaching me the ways of life and instilling in me all his knowledge of it. He was also the "handyman" when it came to household repairs. You name it and he did it a jack of all trades so to speak. Even as a small boy he would have me present when he was attending to small household repairs and I would sit next to him intently watching his every move and at times assisting where I could.

Immediately following my parents deaths both within 3 months of each other I found myself living alone in the house I grew up in. This is the same house my grandfather spent many a Sunday afternoon fixing or painting something around the house. One morning when I woke up I was coming out of my bedroom as I opened the door I saw my grandfather wearing his Fedora hat, brown suit, descending the stairs as if he has just come down the hall from my bedroom. There was no exchange of dialog and as quickly as I saw him he was gone. I was wide awake and alert there was no mistaking who and what I had seen, this struck me as strange since had been deceased at that point for 6 years. I never saw him again and a couple of years later sold and moved out of the house into an apartment. I lived in that apartment for some years and never saw another sign of him.

In 2001 I decided to buy another home. One night around 3 am I woke up from my sleep and wanted a cigarette, this happened occasionally and as usual I got up from bed to head downstairs for a smoke. Usually my dog who was sleeping next to me would also get up and follow me down for a quick run outside. This time he did not get up and stayed in bed, I thought nothing of it and came out of my room, I turned the hallway light on and was approaching the top of the stairs to head down when once again I saw my grandfather at the bottom of the stairs heading out the door of my vestibule, again still wearing the same brown suit and his Fedora hat, again there was no other communication and as quickly as I saw him he was gone.
