It was night time and I was in a deep sleep. When I woke up, I was facing a wall in my bedroom. I could hear a whispering voice and it was as if it was coming from everywhere. It sounded like a voice you would hear on an AM radio station with some echo in it. The voice was happy and excited and words kept pouring out but I wasnt trying to understand what was being said because I thought it was the television in the next room.  At that time my brothers went to bed late so I thought it was they watching TV.
 

All of the sudden I became very happy and thought itd be fun to go say hello to my brothers. I was just about to get up when, to my surprise, I saw a women laying on my floor right beside my bed. She was about 30-35 years old. Her hair was long, split in the middle and black with a few silver here and there. Her skin was very pink and she was really very beautiful. There seemed to be a bluish light coming from her body and it gave her some kind of three-dimensional shape. She was wearing a very bright white dress, so bright that I couldnt see any shadow on it. Her black hair was falling on her chest and her hands were hiding under the long sleeves. What surprised me the most was the terracotta blanket covering her feet, the color was amazing... I can hardly describe it. The lady had her eyes shut and wasnt moving. I looked at her for a long time, about 10 minutes maybe. I was wondering who she was. I didnt really want to talk to her because there was something odd about her and I couldnt understand how I could see her so clearly at that time of the night. She was very bright but the light wasnt hurting my eyes. I dont know how but I knew she was very nice and very happy. After a while, I told myself it must have been my older sister because they kind of had the same haircut so I went back to sleep hoping not to have disrupted my sisters sleep too much.

All of the sudden, while I was laying down and couldnt see the lady anymore; I could feel her reading inside me. She read me from the tip of my toes right up to my hair. She liked me. Then I had a scary thought: this wasnt my older sister!!! Although I was terrified, I decided to take courage and asked out loud: Who is here?, who is here?.

Beside my bed there was a little desk covered (I cant remember why) with tin cans. I told myself I was going to hit them in order to make some noise and that at the same time, I would quickly turn on the light. It never happened because as I was making up my plan, the lady told me (with an exasperated and loud voice) Youre being noisy! Youre being noisy! I stood up on my feet to surprise her but she had disappeared. I thought she was pretty quick on her feet to run away so fast I had not seen her come out of my bedroom! I finally went back to sleep and to this day, I am astounded at how well I slept that night. In the morning, I borrowed a measuring tape from my mother to measure up the lady from the previous nights memories. I remembered her head coming right up to my desk and her feet, under the terracotta blanket, ending up towards the end of my bed. She was just 5 feet tall. The following nights, I started being afraid of going to bed in the dark.

Do you have any comments about the relationship you had with the deceased?       She was 78 years old and almost paralyzed. I never heard her voice. I remember she would stay in bed all day but once, she went out. without anybody knowing, she went to the convenience store by our house to buy me some cinnamon heart candies. She had difficulty walking and used a walker. it must have taken her a good hour to get there.

I used to peek through her door and liked watching her sleep. I was very young! I wasnt even 8 when she passed away.
 

At the funeral home where she was being viewed, my sister and I drew her a picture. It represented her, my grandmother, smiling. Jesus was in the sun and she was running towards him on a rainbow. We drew ourselves laying on the grass and crying. We folded the picture and placed it under her hands, in the coffin. Our family was scandalized and thought it was very inappropriate.

Fortunately, the manager of the funeral home told our family it was fine and allowed us to do it. He looked at us smiling and asked if we wanted the picture to stay with our grandmother. We nodded yes and began to cry.

Length of time between death of deceased and your experience:         From what I remember, I saw the young lady the night prior to the day her death was announced ; April 18 1978. Curiously, only recently have I realized the connection between the lady I saw and my grandmother. The first thing we remember after an experience like that, is the date.

Was the date of the experience significant in any way?  Its because of the April 18 1978 date that I believe the lady I saw was in fact my grandmother. I didnt realize this until recently. I often wondered about the ladys identity.

Details of location of experience and your activity at the time of experience: This experience happened in the middle of the night, in my bedroom. I was asleep and suddenly woke up. It was very unusual for me to wake up in the middle of the night. I could hear someone speaking very softly. It sounded like a voice you would hear on an AM radio station with some echo in it. I was absolutely awake.

I could feel the lady was speaking to me not only in my head but through my body. I knew she knew me really well and loved me deeply. I knew she was very nice. Words cannot describe the impact of everything she passed on to me.

My grandmother was 78 years old and when she appeared to me she was 30 or 35 years old. I never saw a picture of her young but recently, I was talking about her with one of my aunties. When she proceeded to describe her I was in shock: the description matched the ladys except for the length of the hair. My auntie said my grandmother kept her hair short.

How healthy did the deceased appear to be?         When she was alive, my grandmother was paralyzed. She could hardly move and couldnt speak anymore. When she appeared to me, she seemed in good health.

How long did the experience last? Between 10 et 15 minutes.

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?       The beginning and the end of the experience were very sudden.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?         Yes  I could feel she was very happy and very nice. She loved me.

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  She made me understand that she loved me.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?       Experience was definitely real
 

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real: When I close my eyes, I can see the lady very clearly in my head. Its as if my mind took a picture of her. All my other memories are fading away.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes      When I was 8 years old I didnt really have any religious thoughts. I believe those thoughts developed with time.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.? I try to understand the truth and the meaning of my actions. I believe in God, in the love of life, love of people, love of animals, love of things and in self-effacement. I think life on Earth in very short. Real life is on the other side and is long.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?  Yes   The description of the lady matched my grandmothers except for the hair length.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?       I started asking myself tons of questions. I developed a fear of the dark but that fear disappears when I sleep beside someone I love.
