Experience description:

I was, to put it delicately, in my bathroom reading. Sissy, a Boston Terrier,  was a strong personality and didn't like being closed out of any room, especially the bathroom. All at once, there was a scratch at the door, just like she would do, with her paw under the door. I opened the door, puzzled, as no other of the dogs could get to that part of the house. Nothing that I could see was there. I also had another incident. My daughter was visiting and she needed Chap stick, so she went to my room to get it. While in there, she lovingly patted the box holding Sissy's remains and told her how much she was loved and missed. My daughter came back into this part of the house, looked towards this area I always "see things" (it is like catching a fleeting glance at something, you do a double take and nothing is there, just in this one spot), and said Tommy the cat was in the house. I said that he wasn't, and she even went back through but he was not there. I asked her what made her think he was, and she said well, I saw him! I told her I knew he was outside. Then she started to cry and told me what she had done in my room. I told her that Sissy was just popping in to say hi.

Was this experience difficult to express in words?  No

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?            No

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?          Yes

Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:    I actually heard the scratch at that door, no doubt at all about that.

Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?  Outside, right under that door.

If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?           Exactly the same, why it startled me.

Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           No

Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            No

Did you see the deceased?         No

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      No

How long did the experience last?        Just a few seconds each time

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         Sudden, both times happened instantly and unexpectedly.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           Yes

Persistence....that was Sissy!

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was definitely real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:           I know what I heard, and I know what my daughter experienced was real. Up until that time, she thought my "sightings" were a figment of my imagination. Now she knows it is real. That was why she cried.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   No

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:           Startled for me because I KNEW none of the other dogs could have possible been in that part of the house. And I knew it was Sissy....she was the only one that ever did that. It was amazing because I knew when I opened that door, I would see nothing there.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           Yes

I know that when we go, we are in a good place and keep in touch with those we love.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The best was knowing Sissy is still around. The worst is that we are not together physically like we used to be.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?            Yes     Oh, absolutely. I no longer fear death and almost welcome it, will rejoice because I know it is going to be a  very happy reunion on the other side that day.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Joy, that it is true, that there is visits from the other side of life.
