#2 EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

I was watering the lawn at a friends property and heard police sirens a block away. I heard more and more but did not see a car, I thought maybe they were in the alley. I decided to get behind the wall in case someone started shooting, and a few seconds later, they did start shooting. I decided to leave, rolled up the hose and put it away, jumped into my car and drove one block up to Pacific Avenue. At this time I lived only one block further up, and 5 blocks to the left, so I was going to drive home. I started to turn left, and my son said "don't go home, go the Jeff's." I stopped and said out loud " but I only live a few blocks away!" and he said again "don't go home, go to Jeff's'" so I turned right instead of left. after a few blocks, 7 police cars flew by, and I was glad I was going the opposite direction.

Jeff lives 20 blocks away, and I went there, even though I knew he was not home yet. He came home from work a few minutes later, and asked what I was doing there- I told him there was shooting near his apartment, and Matt told me to go to his house. I stayed for dinner. The shooting was around 5:00 pm. My mother called me around 7:00 pm, and asked if I heard about all of the excitement - I said, do you mean the police cars going down the street? I told her I was there where it started. Then she said, "Well, yes, but the police came to our house!" They arrested the guy in my yard, and my mom had to open the garage door of the police to walk the guy out.

If my son had not told me to go to Jeff's, I would have gone home, pulling into the alley and opening the garage with the remote door opener. I may have been getting out of the car when the person that the police were chasing left his car, ran through my alley- he could have got me in the car, instead of hopping the wall into my mothers side yard. My yard.

My son could have saved my life? I don't know. But I am grateful, and the people I told are astounded.

#1 Experience description:

I was driving to work, and there was a small pickup truck 20 yards or so ahead of me. It had mattresses standing upright in the bed of the truck. As I got a bit closer, I heard "move over into the other lane before something falls off of the truck." This was in my head, but I have learned to listen. I immediately moved into the left lane, and saw a large piece of wood fly off of the truck from in between the mattresses. If I had not moved when I was told to, I would have been hit.
