Experience description:

In 2006, a former co-worker shot and killed 6 of my co- workers. I was at home getting ready to go to work at the time, when my nephew called and told me to turn on the news. It was horrifyingly surreal. I stayed home awaiting more news. Had I been there twenty minutes earlier, I might not have been so lucky. One of the co-workers, I'll refer to her as "Mary" was a very bubbly outgoing girl with a tremendous laugh. She was a new mother of a baby girl.

Six of my co-workers ended up loosing their life that horrible night. All died from gunshot wounds.

Fast forward about six months later. I was driving home from my night shift. It was early morning around 6am. As I was driving down the freeway, I passed the cemetery where Mary is buried. You can only see it for a brief few seconds. It made me think about her. I have had more than a few ADC experiences before, so it felt natural for me to ask her to give me a sign that she was ok where she was. I thought for a moment as the car radio played in the background. She was a huge Bob Marley fan and there is even a Bob Marley reference on her grave marker. I said out loud, "I know, Mary! How about a Bob Marley song! Play one on the radio!" Almost immediately the song that had been currently playing had ended and the next song was Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff"!!! I feel she wanted to make sure I knew it was her by choosing that song as she had passed by a gun shot.

I thanked her and blessed her. It gives me the chills thinking about it. When I returned to work, I shared this with a few of my co-workers because I told Mary that I would let them know she was ok.
