Experience description:

I worked in a local restaurant.  I had worked there for 10 years.  My good friend, Heather had worked side by side with me until she discovered a lump, which was diagnosed as non Hotchkin's lymphoma. She was 26 and unusually beautiful. She had declined very quickly and I knew she didn't have much time.

I came home very late from work.  My husband was out of town and my children were staying with their dad for the week-end. I received a call at 2:00 am that Heather had passed away.  I was very up set and sobbing.  I remember crying very hard my eyes shut and then suddenly feeling, (and this is so very hard to describe) a very peaceful calming feeling.  It slowly started at my feet and made its way up to my head.  It was the most beautiful feeling, as if to say "its alright, I'm fine!" Words cannot convey that feeling, I had never experienced that before and have not since.

I looked up, because I was feeling so at peace and comforted and noticed a small ball of light hovering above me. It was somewhat stationary yet poised to move very quickly at any second. It hovered shortly and then zoomed out of the room.

I don't know what this was, but I definitely got the message that Heather was fine! My husband was the only person I told about this experience for a very long time.  As I've gotten older, I've felt the need to tell the people that are close to me, but it is always very uncomfortable to tell.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     The peaceful, wonderful feeling cannot be described

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Uncertain      Just recently.  I was dreaming and My ex-husbands brother came to me and interrupted my dream.  I remember saying to myself, Mark why are you interrupting my dream?  Its important to note here. That I had not been in regular contact with Mark and had spoken to him maybe twice in 15 years.

Back to the dream:  He just smiled at me and said " Hi Kim".  I then woke up thinking, that was weird.  It was 4:00 am.  I laid there for a while and couldn't go back to sleep because I couldn't understand why this happened.  I then became very concerned, thinking maybe something had happened to Mark.  At this point it was 5 a.m.

I got up and emailed his sister, Cathey.  My email said. "Hi Cathey, just had a dream about Mark, have you heard from him lately?  Just worried, hope he's OK.

I then went back to sleep.  The next morning I woke up around 8:30, not really remembering what happened a few hours earlier.  The phone rang around 10:00.  It was Mark's brother calling to tell me he had died last night.  I suddenly remembered everything and couldn't believe what he was telling me.  I asked him what time he died, he told me around 4:00 am.

I then called Cathey and said to her, Cathey, did you get the email I sent you??

We were just floored!
