Experience description: Shortly after my husband's best friend's step-dad committed suicide after shooting his wife (it was either the day of his death or the day after, not sure), my husband and I were on the way the house where this occurred to help his son clean up the "mess". That in itself was a terrible unpleasant thing to have to do but he and his girlfriend needed help so there we were offering to help. My husband and I were at a small convenient store getting some things. He was in the store and I was waiting in the car.

Suddenly, I was overcome with the most awful sadness and despair that I had ever experienced. I was not sure at first what was happening since i did not know the deceased when he was alive. Then, I began to feel that he was there with me, inside my mind and he began talking to me like that, not audibly, but extremely clear just the same. He told me to remind Scott his step-son that they had had some wonderful years together and that things were not always as bad as right before his death.

He had been very depressed and his marriage was in a bad state. He was on medication for depression as well as for Parkinson's disease. He relayed, not with words but with "feeling" how he had felt for a while before his death. It seemed that I was experiencing the sadness, despair, and hopelessness that he felt at those times. When my husband returned I was crying and I explained to him what had happened. He said that I should tell Scott what Harold had "said". I agreed wondering if Scott would think I was crazy. I shared this experience with Scott and he was very grateful to have heard from his dad. I asked to see a picture of Harold, as I had gotten a picture of him in my mind as he spoke to me. The picture that I saw looked very much like the one in my mind but it seemed to be at a time when he was happier and younger. I was very glad that Harold was able to reach me to share what he wanted to say to his son.
