Experience description:

My mother and I had stayed overnight in a room near to the ICU where my father was on life support after a serious stroke.  At approx 8am, after a few hours of light sleep I was just waking up, but not quite fully awake when I had a vivid vision of my father.  He was in the ICU room where he had been for the last day or so, but he did not have the breathing tube in, and he was quietly taking the tubes off his arms and chest. He looked serene. Then I woke up.  We went to go see him in his room in the ICU.  I believe it must have been around 8am that they turned down his oxygen...his heart finally stopped at 10:18 but I have reason to believe that he may have passed earlier due to this vision.  (or was preparing to pass)

Was this experience difficult to express in words?          No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            No

Did you see the deceased?         Yes

he was serene and looked the same - not younger or older than his 69 years

How clearly did the deceased appear?            it was a vivid image, clear as a bell as if I were in the room.  very different from a dream

How much of the deceased did you see?       he was sitting up in bed

Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?       yes he was the age at which he died

How healthy did the deceased appear to be?            he was almost blind when he died, but I felt he could see me.  he was sitting up

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      No comment

How long did the experience last?        just a few seconds

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         it was quite sudden, the vision just sort of turned on...and then ended when I woke up

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           Uncertain

he seemed serene

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was probably real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:           because it seemed so vivid, and because he passed away that morning, and because they turned down his oxygen just around the time I had the vision.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   Uncertain

it was a dream, but a very vivid lifelike dream at least it seemed to me

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:           I was looking after my mom, we 2 spent the night at the hospital.  we were both very tired.  my mom was exhausted, I was worried for both of them.  I felt like I was being given 'notice'.  I just don't know.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           Uncertain

possibly ... at least I haven't been the mess I thought I would be should he die.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      my dad is dead that's pretty bad

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
   No

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?  Uncertain            I don't know if my mind just invented the vision or if dad actually did communicate to me that he was going.

Death Compacts are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies first will try to contact the other(s).  Have you ever made such a compact?        No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          N0 response
What emotions did you feel during the experience?            a little bit in shock, I felt a bit more prepared for his actual passing.  actually I am surprised that I have been so very strong... this has been helpful for my mother.  I thought I'd be devastated by my dad's passing... when he was undergoing a serious  operation a few years ago I was a mess.  it doesn't make sense.

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?           No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Yes

something odd or coincidental did happen.  I dreamed of a large spider, in a vision with similar clarity to that of my dad's ICU passing, and then I heard on the next day that some town in Australia had been overrun by spiders.

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?            No

Did you see a light?         the ICU in reality had subdued light, but in my vision the room seemed brighter.  it was very vivid
