Experience description:  

Length of time between death of deceased and your experience:          Occurred at the exact time of death

Was the date of the experience significant in any way?     the experience consisted of myself observing and assisting my pet chocolate lab...Shane....at the moment of last breath when the "Spirit" arrived to accompany Shane's spirit and to touch my soul with a miracle by allowing me insight of his passing...

Details of location of experience and your activity at the time of experience:  I had done research about Native American death rituals of shamanism.

Degree of bereavement for deceased immediately prior to the experience:     Severe sadness and/or grief feelings

Degree of alertness immediately prior to experience:         Fully alert

After your experience, did you consider the contents of your experience:       Wonderful

Have you had multiple experiences?   No      

Was this experience difficult to express in words?  No

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?          No

            Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?  All communication was almost telepathic also actual voice conversation with my wife at the same time....

            If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?           no

            Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           no

            Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   no

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            Uncertain

Not touched by the deceased but experienced a total blessing and warmth when I was touched by the spirit that arrived to make my grief understandable.

            Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar?   unfamiliar.....a joyful moment of a once in a lifetime "gift".....

            Was anything communicated by the touch?  peace , love, understanding and closure

            Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?  I wish it was that way I could maybe duplicate the event ...over and over again......that's why I know this was the real thing.

Did you see the deceased?         Uncertain

I seen the energy that arrived to deliver this blessing....I felt and was sprinkled with what I can only describe has gold dust and the inner amazing feeling of enchantment.

            How much of the deceased did you see?       I only could feel the spirit at the exact moment of his last breath , I took the breath into my lungs....at that moment I could physically feel my dog's spirit leave this earth and the angel that was there touched me and I slowly lied down next to his body and began to sing to his corpse...My wife in tears sitting in front of me seeing me become completely calm ...it was amazing!!

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      Uncertain

            What smell, scent, fragrance or odor did you smell?           I remember the moments that followed was peaceful and tranquil....

How long did the experience last?        Only for a minute or so in real time but it seemed like it was going to last forever...the residual effects lasted and was documented for almost 24 hours

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         when it happened it was sudden , when I recall it seems like it was gradual.....I can remember amazing details about the event.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           Yes

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  I know that for sure " all dogs go to heaven".......and I feel extremely blessed for the experience.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was definitely real

            Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:           Because my wife and I both experienced or witnessed the event together and afterwards taking the time to write it down while  it was still fresh  in our minds

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   Yes

As the event occurred I experienced "tunnel vision"......

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:           I was in a complete emotional melt down up to the moment of death and then after having the experience within seconds became physically and emotionally happy....content....I actually found myself noting the transformation and the feeling.....peace and tranquil.....

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           Yes

What helped a lot was coming to the realization that I was fortunate to experience this miracle.... I am so thankful to my best friend and companion my dog Shane and words cannot express my thanks to the "Spirit" ......  that was with us that day......

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      it happened was the best, it ended was the worst.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes                 Describe:      I try to live , life..

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
   Yes     I might not experience the same event ever again , but I know that it will always effect how I perceive events I do experience.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?            Yes    

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            The peaceful and tranquil blessing stayed with me for the next 24 hours ....at a certain time I could actually feel the "grief" returning and the for a week or so some days were the worst.

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?           Yes

My wife was with me at the time and she not only witnessed me having the experience but she had a milder version of experience.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

Actually it was more like a merging of another consciousness with mine that I experienced.

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?    Yes

Spirit..........my wife told me later that when I was singing to the corpse I was also repeating over and over "thank you , spirit....thank you, spirit..

Did you see a light?           Yes

Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described above?            No

Were there any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?            Uncertain

I was conducting a death ritual with Native American drumming and the cleansing of the area with burning of sage.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No 

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?           Yes 

OBE..... using mushroom's in the mid 1970's
