Experience description:

As stated earlier, I was discussing with my husband that it has taken several months to show signs of grief because shortly after the death of my father, I was sent on two humanitarian assistance trips to former soviet Eastern Europe (Moldova). With those trips behind me and school out for summer, I have begun this process.

I was crying myself to sleep silently when I requested that my father show himself to me.

At 5:15 a.m., I was sleeping deeply when I felt my body being pulled, like in a vacuum. This was accompanied with an incredible low-vibration sound I have never heard. I have, however, had very similar feelings and sounds in experiencing night terrors. Then, in a voice I could not describe as male or female, I was commanded, "Open Your Eyes!" This voice was clear and commanding, but not in the room-it was from within me. I opened my eyes widely and was keenly aware that I was going to experience something incredible. I looked into my pillow and breathed very slowly. My father's face began to appear two inches from my face. The image remained translucent, as I could see my pillow through him. I did not speak, because I just "knew" to look back at him. His face was as his age depicted at the time of his death. He looked at me in the most loving way I EVER remember. He remained for about10-15 seconds. I know I was awake because my eyes began to burn and get sticky from not blinking. I knew when I did blink he would be gone. When I finally blinked, he was gone. I said out loud, but in a whisper "Thank You, I love you." Every hair was raised on my body and my limbs were ice cold.

I turned to tell my husband and he was gone. I told him what happened and he told me that at 5:16 there was a strange beeping coming from his cellular phone in the kitchen. He got up to check on it to find his phone was shutting off because the battery was low. He agreed that this was synchronicity. Perhaps it was my father signing off to me.

Was this experience difficult to express in words? 

Yes

Prior to actually seeing my father's face, I felt I was being pulled backward, along with an unusual vibration sound. This is very difficult to explain.

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?         

Yes

            Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:  

As stated previously, I was commanded by a voice I am sure only I could hear. I am not able to say it was male or female. The voice commanded as if in a hurry, "Open Your Eyes!"

            Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated? 

I heard the voice inside of me. Also, I had a sense of knowing what to do, intuition.

            If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?

            Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?          

No

            Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?  

No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?           

No

Did you see the deceased?        

He was translucent, I could see all of his features. he looked very lovingly at me. It was not frozen like a photograph. He had expression that seemed to be alive.

            How clearly did the deceased appear?            he was translucent, the color of that image was silvery white.

            How much of the deceased did you see?       I only saw his face.

            Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?       The age of his death

            How healthy did the deceased appear to be?            He looked very healthy. he looked to be at the time before his nose was re-broken for repair a few years ago.

            Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           No

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?     

No

How long did the experience last?       

10-15 seconds

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?        

The awakening was sudden. When my eyes were open he was not there. He GRADUALLY appeared before me. I believe I blinked also because it appeared that he was fading away.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?          

Yes

Peaceful, he seemed proud of me.

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know? 

No

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?          

Experience was definitely real

            Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:         

I am sure because as I stated early, my eyes began to burn because I forced them not to blink. Then after the experience I blinked and remained wide eyed not believing what happened before I turned to my husband.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?  

No

Only that cognitively I know he has passed.  I just cannot believe I got to see his face again.

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:          

Immediately prior I was sleeping peacefully. Before falling asleep, I was crying.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?          

Yes

Yes, I am still grieving but not in such a sad way. The week prior, my doctor gave me antidepressants, which I have not taken.

I feel in a fog, like I know something no one else knows. I am excited.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Oh, to see his face again looking at me so lovingly was the best. The worst is obvious...much too brief. But I am deeply grateful nonetheless.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Uncertain

            Describe:      At this time I am uncertain.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes

I am certain he answered my request.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?            Yes

i have been reading about asking for an experience. I have had several chilling synchronicities since his passing. The stage I have entered is questioning myself about the reality of his communication to me. I feel like this was his answer to me about this doubt I had.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            My heart was racing. Extreme elation. ALIVE!

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?           Yes

When I turned to tell my husband, he was gone. He immediately returned to tell me that his phone spontaneously began beeping. He went to check it. He is positive that the two are connected.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Uncertain

 Again, the pulling feeling made me question this possibility

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes

I was given directions with out hearing them. I just knew how to proceed. I knew this was going to be an incredible experience as soon as I opened my eyes and I knew before he appeared that it would be my father I would see.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Uncertain

At this time, this happened early this morning.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Uncertain

the pulling feeling and the sound I heard made me consider this

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes

My husband felt deeply touched that his phone was related to my vision.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?   No

 Were there any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?            Uncertain

I am using a total body/bowel cleansing program. I am not sure of this effect.

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?           Yes 

I have since I was a child had night terrors, which are frightening. I have also experienced astral projection, where I have felt wonderful, viewing my room and other places from above.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes
