Experience description:

I am currently in a general dental practice with my brother. My brother and I took over the practice which was started by my father about 40 years ago.  My brother is running the practice into the ground, and I am unable to do anything about it.  My wife and I had discussions about me starting my own practice, but the financial risks were serious.  I mentioned numerous times about just remaining where I am at, and trying to make the best of the situation.  This time my wife got extremely angry and began yelling about how stupid of an idea it would be for me to remain where I am in the current practice.  Upset, I left the room to go to the back of the house into our bedroom.  This is where the experience begins.

I walked into the bedroom and was standing next to the bed.  Then it seems as though I almost went into a daze, trance, or something where I was conscious, but not fully aware. It almost seemed as though my eyes glazed over, but I could still see. Then something drew my eyes to the door of our bedroom. And I just stared there focusing on the doorway.  Then I saw two visions.  The first one was one of our dogs who had passed away about a year ago.  His head appeared kind of floating in the air.  I distinctly remember seeing him clearly. Then he disappeared. The next vision came immediately after.  I saw the outline of a full sized figure walk into the doorway of my bedroom and stand there.  At first I thought it was a reflection from outside because it was so clear.  But our shades were closed in our bedroom, so that couldn't be possible.  The figure walked into the doorway, stopped, and stood with its hands in its coat pocket.  I could only see the outline of the head, but I can describe what this vision was wearing clearly.  It was wearing black tennis shoes, blue jeans, and a tan London fog jacket.  And I just stared at this figure for a long time, but really didn't have a definite concept of how long this went on for.  Then it seemed as though thoughts were coming into my head non-stop.  The thoughts were along the lines that you need more balance in your life. Stop concentrating on work so much.  You are never going to be at peace while you are still where you are at, and its time for you to move on.  You need to get out of the building that is owned collectively by the family, because there is never going to be peace while it is still owned by everyone.

After these messages stopped, I seemed to come out of my trance and returned to being fully aware of my surroundings and the figure was gone.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?     No

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them? Yes

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?   Yes

Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:     Messages were described in the narrative above.

Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?   Inside myself

If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?     Similar

Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?   No, nobody was in the room or outside of the house around the window or door of the bedroom.

Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?   Yes

Describe where and how you were touched:     This was an entirely different experience.  About 3-4 days immediately after my father passed away, I was in bed sleeping at night.  I was still extremely upset about his passing.  All of a sudden, I felt like someone was hitting the heel of my foot.

Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar?   Familiar.  When I was younger, my father would always wake me up from sleeping by hitting the heels of my feet.

Was anything communicated by the touch?   No

Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?   Nobody else was in the bedroom with me at the time.

Did you see the deceased?   Yes    My father always wore black tennis shoes, jeans, and a tan London fog jacket.  He would stand there with his feet apart, his jacket zipped up, and his hands in the jacket pockets. He had a customary walk and gait which was identical to the vision I saw of the figure standing in my bedroom doorway.

How clearly did the deceased appear?   It was not a solid appearance. More of a clearly defined silhouette. The body and the clothing were clearly seen, but the head was more of a shadow outline that was not clear.

How much of the deceased did you see?    I did not see his face, but I saw the entire body.

Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?   Unable to determine because I did not see his face clearly.

How healthy did the deceased appear to be?    My father had Parkinson's for 10 years and progressively became bed ridden for the last 2 years of his life.  Even before he became unable to walk, his gait and walk were extremely slow, cautious, and unsteady.  The silhouette I saw strode into the bedroom doorway quickly and steadily without any signs of infirmities or signs of problems walking.

Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?    No, nobody else was in the room with me.

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?    No

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?   No

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?   NO, the figure confirmed it.  I visited a psychic medium in January 2014 where my father was as the medium put it, "Front and Center communicating." After the medium appointment, I returned home and quickly transcribed my conversation with her and what she had told me.  The core message I got from the psychic was my brother is destroying what my father spent his entire life building and there is nothing I could do about it.  I needed a clean break from him, and that I didn't have to go far away because my patients would follow me.  And that I am my father's legacy, and it doesn't matter where I practice. Wherever I go, I will bring his legacy with me.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?    Experience was definitely real    I have had multiple experiences with different forms of ADC's from my father I believe. This one was just the most dramatic and concrete experience I have had.  I saw this figure walk into my room. I remember this experience clearly and can vividly describe it.  The figure had the same gait, walk, stride, posture, and standing position as my father. The clothes I saw were typical of him.

Was the experience dream like in any way?    Uncertain    Best way to describe it was I was fully conscious immediately before the vision began.  Immediately prior to seeing the head of my dog and the figure walk into my room, I feel as if my eyes glazed over.  I was awake and conscious of my surroundings, but it seemed as if I entered a trance.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?    Yes    More comforting knowing my father is still around me.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?    Best part was seeing the vision and knowing he is still there.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?    Yes    I am in the process of designing and opening my new office and to start my own business.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?    Yes    After death communications are real.  I was shocked and humbled that I was chosen to have one of these experiences.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?    Yes    I believe in the constant that energy is neither created nor destroyed.  Our souls are pure energy, contained inside a limiting physical vessel.  Once we die, we no longer have the physical limitations that our body forced on us.  Our soul(energy) is released back into the collective energy of the universe at which time we begin a new process of living and learning.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?   No

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?    Uncertain    Unsure how to describe this.  There was a correlation between the vision and what happened in the exchange between my wife and I immediately before the experience.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?       No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?        No

Did you become aware of future events?           No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?     No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?    No

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?    Yes    I saw one of our dogs who had passed away suddenly.

Did you see a light?    No

Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described above?   No

Have you shared this experience with others?    Yes    I told my wife what happened. Her reaction and what she told me blew me away.  After I told her I saw my father in the bedroom, she told me what she said out loud once I left the room to go back into the bedroom.  Immediately after we had our disagreement and I left the room, she said something out loud.  She told me she said, "Doc(my father's nickname), I am tired of you making me angry and feeling this way. Go tell him yourself."  I found this out right after i came back and told her what happened after the vision.  She also told me that multiple times at night when we were sleeping, she would wake up at night and sense something moving in the room near the doorway where I had my vision.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?    No

Is there anything else you would like to add regarding your experience?    That this is only one of multiple experiences I have had.  My other experiences were: being hit on the heel of my foot, having one light flicker repeatedly in the kitchen when I was in there(the light was part of 6 under cabinet lights I installed). One light would periodically start to flicker, while the others remained constantly lit.  The light has since worked fine with no flickering or signs of problems.

Were there any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?    No

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?   No

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?      No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?    Yes
