Experience description:

This experience was not about me.  My dog was hit by a car and was dying.  I held him in my arms while a friend was driving to the emergency vet.  The dog was whimpering and I was talking to him, consoling him.  The moment he died, I was leaning over him and felt a warmth pass through my body that was over him.  I was in great distress because I loved my dog, like a child, and he was dying in my arms.  However, at the moment of death, when I felt this warmth pass through me, there was a peaceful feeling and a smile appeared on my lips.  I will never forget it.  I knew that it was okay. When we got to the vet, I told them he was dead and they said they would examine him.  When they returned to tell me he was dead, they asked if I wanted his body and I said, no.  He is no longer there. It brings me great joy to know that animals have souls and live on.  I have no doubt about that.

            No       N/A

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     No

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?           No

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes            Animals have life after death.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     Don't think I am crazy, but it also involved another pet.  I have always had pets.  I was in a car accident and I had another dog with me.  The dog jumped out of the window and panicked and ran in the middle of the interstate.  I could not open my door, it was smashed in.  A gentleman stopped to help and we were both calling to the dog to come.  It was in the middle of an always very busy interstate with 5 lanes.  Everything was in slow motion and there was no sound.  I was on the side of the road at the time.  I was yelling in slow motion as was the gentleman who was helping.  There was no sound of cars, no sound of our voices, everything moving in slow motion, but no cars.  My dog turned halfway across the interstate to look back at me and I knew that I was calling her name, but my voice was in slow motion and far away.  She turned to come back.  She was "running" back in slow motion with no sound on the earth.  Then, when she made it back to the car, there was the sound of traffic and cars appeared and were travelling fast.  It was a miracle.  Everything appeared in a dreamlike state.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     They were amazed.  I did not tell many people about the first experience with the dog who died in my arms.  I did not think people would believe me.  I told more people about the second experience.  I am not sure if they believed me or not.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I believe that the "soul" of my dog moving through me at the time of death was to let me know that he lived on and to have a peace about his death.  I know that the event with the accident and my dog running in the road was real and I picture it like it was yesterday.  I am not sure why, but can only assume that it was not her time to go or I even thought that "God" knew that I would not be able to handle seeing my dog run over by a car and spared me from that.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?            Both experiences were amazing and meaningful.  Animals are spiritual beings that continue after bodily death and I believe that animals have a purpose on earth also and are watched by "others" outside of our realm of existence, just like humans.  These were not NDEs, but thought that this was one place to share these experiences to give hope to those who love animals also.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real    see above

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           No

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?
Uncertain

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        no

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?         Yes

Are there any other questions we could ask to help you communicate your experience?   My experience was not an NDE, but an unusual event with my dog's death and miraculous survival of another dog.  It would be interesting to hear of others who did not die and come back, but who experienced unusual events during a death or NDE or highly stressful/emotional event.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

My dog passed away on November 11th. I had to make a difficult choice to put her to sleep as she had bone cancer and I felt I had no choice left but to let her go .I asked the Creator to take care of her and I prayed a lot . I missed her terribly and worried that I had made the wrong choice . I had an  experience during my sleep. I had woke up around 6:30 am and decided to fall back to sleep, I was then suddenly jolted awake .I remember feeling totally aware that I was surrounded by darkness but I was not alarmed or frightened by this. I said to myself " I must be dying?" I felt sad suddenly for my family as it was close to Christmas. I then saw a tunnel. It was black with beautiful blue lights around it that twinkled. My dog came through the tunnel towards me she was excited to see me as I was her .I remember her jumping into me and I was able to touch her. I felt so much happiness! She then turned and ran up into the tunnel. I followed her upwards and saw a light at the end of the tunnel. I felt pulled upwards, like there was a magnet drawing me up. I then felt a presence of someone or something I wasn't sure...but it was blocking me from going any further. I heard a voice that softly said "no." I felt like I was propelled backwards into my body. I wanted to try again. I tried three separate times to go up to the light. There was an impression of a huge hand in the tunnel that I saw during this period it was full of different soft colors that changed and blended together. I finally gave in and felt like I was thrown back into my body. I had difficulty moving my arms and legs at first and was worried that I may have had a stroke, but I got up out of bed shortly after that.
