Experience description:

I had 2 doctor appointments on this particular morning, each at a different location.  My alarm woke me up at 6:30 a.m. and I was thinking to myself, I have to get to this office by 9:00 a.m. and then get to the next office by 11:00 a.m.  I then fell back to sleep and immediately starting dreaming and in the dream, I was walking and saying the same thing as above.  Right before me my favorite doctor appeared.  It was so sudden, in the dream, it startled me and I said out loud, "Oh"!  (He was not one of the doctors. I was seeing that day, but his office was at the last office bldg. I was going to.)  I said to him, "Now I have to go see an oral Surgeon, then I have to go to the hand surgeon.  He just stood there in green scrubs just looking at me and listening like he normally would.

I said to him, "Well, I have to get going" and I turned to leave and he said after me, "Take care of your throat!"  I turned to him and said, "Now, you know I see you every 3 mos. for this, and I am also going to see the ENT and. . .I just looked at him and he was looking at me and there was a yellowish/golden fuzzy light around him.  I wanted to say more, but at that moment I woke up.

This dream haunted me all day.  This was a Wednesday morning.  When I went to my 2nd appt. that day at his office, I had a strange feeling about him.  The next day there was a message on my machine to call his office that my next 3 mos. scheduled appointment had to be cancelled.  Since this was after work when I got the message I could not call his office till the next morning which was Friday.  When I called, I was told that he had passed away on Wed. morning and was found early around 6:30 - 7:00 which was when my ADC of him occurred.

I saw him regularly every 3 mos. to keep track of my thyroid. I think he was telling me to take care of my throat for a different problem, which at the time was sleep apnea.  I think he wanted to tell me that.  I was shocked at his death along with all who knew him.  He was my favorite dr. and I still miss him today.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?

Experience was definitely real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:

I did not know he had died, and the dream was unlike a regular dream, I was able to talk to him and to think and speak to him.

Was the experience dream like in any way?

No

Experience always starts as a dream but as soon as he appeared, it changed into a regular conversation where I could think and reason.

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:

Had no idea he had died and the experience haunted me all day.  I even had a funny feeling when I entered the office building where his office was that I would see a picture of him with the words, "In Memoriam" on it.  It was such a strong feeling, but I thought there was no way he could die, he was so young and in good health, so I dismissed it and thought I was just overreacting.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?

That he came to tell me one more thing and that he cared enough to do it.  The worst was finding out he had died.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     This is more convincing to me, that life goes on after death.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?

Yes Just that I found out he had died on that same morn I had the experience, very close to the same time.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?

Confusion and uneasiness.  As explained above, the experience haunted me until I heard of his passing.

Did you see a light?

Yes

There was a yellow/golden fuzzy glow around him after he told me to take care of my throat.  I did not see the light until after I was answering him, and I was starting to think something was wrong.

Have you shared this experience with others?

Yes     I only shared this with a few people.  They were amazed and believed it had happened.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?

No

Is there anything else you would like to add regarding your experience?

I feel that he communicated with me that morning to warn me of a possible dangerous affect of sleep apnea, and that he was able to connect with me since I happened to fall back asleep at the right time.  Like being in the right place at the right time.
