I have suffered from Sleep paralysis for years. I often have very lucid dreams that take me outside of my body. Very crazy dreams.  This one in question however was very different. I was awakened and I felt that someone was stroking my forehead.  I opened my eyes (when you have an OBE, out of body experience you think you are physically opening your eyes) but you are still asleep.  So when I thought I opened my eyes, I was in reality still sleeping, but awake in an OBE. I saw my grandmother's face. She was much older than I remembered her 20 years ago. I hadn't seen her in 20 years because we had lived in Iran and moved in the early 80's to the U.S.  I felt it in my heart immediately, I sort of thought Hi Grandma, Oh my God what are you doing here?  (this is all telepathically BTW)  She said, in our language: " I came to say by Honey, I have missed you so very much.  I'm leaving now. Bye!...The whole time she was stroking my forehead.  I started to cry and say but I miss you please stay longer, she said I can't. I have to go!.  Bye, I love you!. 

I woke up immediately. I was crying. I woke up my husband. He said what's wrong I said ...I saw my Grandma, I think something is wrong with her.  That very same day in the daytime, I got a call from my father who said. Honey Grandma passed away last night.  She came and said Bye to me. I will never forget her crying face, her eyes and her Love in that moment.

Was this experience difficult to express in words?  Yes

How very real it was. There are dreams that we dream everyday. This was more like a vision while dreaming. SO VERY VERY REAL!

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?          Yes

            Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:    Yes she talked to me very clearly and appeared to me very clearly

            Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?  It was telepathic almost. Hard to describe, it wasn't a SOUND like we now it hear. It was a knowing.  I don't remember if she was moving her mouth and actually talking but she communicated VERY clearly what he wanted to say

            If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?           Actually interesting she had a certain vocabulary that is associated with the accent she talked in.  She used that during this experience and that's how I KNEW that this was real and not made up or a Dream

            Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           Definitely NO

            Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   NO

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            Yes

She was stroking my forehead. That's what woke me up

            Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar?   Very familiar, she was so gentle

            Was anything communicated by the touch?  LOVE

            Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?  NO

Did you see the deceased?         No

She was older, She had cried, her eyes were kind of foggy...like she had cried a lot.  Her face looked tired and she had a relief on her face. She had died of Alzheimer's so it's such a great relief to know that she remembered me in Death.  She didn't recognize my father when he went to go visit her during her last year.

            How clearly did the deceased appear?            Hovering right above me. I had to look up to see her face.  Not super clear. Somewhat transparent almost but clear enough to recognize her and see her expressions.

            How much of the deceased did you see?       mostly portrait. Head and shoulders and her hand

            Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?       Same age as she died

            How healthy did the deceased appear to be?            She had died of Alzheimer's. Suffered a lot and had lost weight. (I hadn't seen her in 20 years this is info that my father tells me and I had seen pictures of her last year...she looked like she was relieved...however she did look old

            Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           no

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      No

How long did the experience last?        Not very long, enough for her to tell me goodbye, I'm leaving, I love you and I can't stay.  Bye Honey.... and I woke up

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         The whole thing was super sudden, same as if someone came in your room and woke you up, talked to you and left

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           Yes

YES, this still baffles me to this day, how clear the emotions were, and how amplified and telepathically I could feel her relief, her grief and her LOVE for me.

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  Yes, she said I have to go now. I'm leaving I came to say bye and that I love you. I said where are you going? she said I'm leaving. She didn't say I died, or I'm dying or I'm dead...She just said I have to go now.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was definitely real

            Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:           It was real because it felt so real, and because we got the phone call that she died that same night she came and said goodbye.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   Yes

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:           I was very happy to see her, I hadn't seen her in so long, so I missed her. I felt the LOVE immediately. I felt that she was leaving - dying.  I KNEW in my hear that she came to say goodbye to me and I will never forget that.  I started to cry because I was so overwhelmed with emotion and information in the 20-30 seconds of that experience.  so much was communicated telepathically and emotionally, it was too much so sudden.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           Yes

I know that she didn't suffer and that she went in peace and that she didn't have the loss of memory of who we are.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The best part was that I saw her again before she left for good. I felt the LOVE from her and that was a huge gift. The worst part was that in about 20 seconds I realized she has died and I will not see her again in this realm.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No      

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     I started to really believe in an afterlife and believe that we move on

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?            Yes     It confirmed to me that other realms exist and that the soul is an energy that moves on. It doesn't die. After all you can't kill energy, it changes state but it keeps going.  It also gave me an understanding of an afterlife. She never said I'm Dead or Dying or I'm DONE. She said I'm leaving now...

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Uncertain Don't understand the question really. She did say I'm leaving and then we got the call that she has died.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Sadness, Grief - followed by a strange joy of knowing that she didn't die confused by Alzheimer's...I felt her true essence in those 30 seconds and that's what I will always cherish.  I sometimes think back to it and smile. She gave me a gift of true love that night and I will always carry that with me.

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?           Yes

My husband was sleeping next to me at the time.  I woke up crying and told him what happened.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes

Altered Space. I was in an in between place.  Not sure where I was, it was close to my body though, almost hovering right outside of it.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Uncertain

Yes     Some  look at me in awe, get goosebumps and then continue to share a story of their own. Some just say Hm....wow...others probably don't believe me, but i don't care.

 Is there anything else you would like to add regarding your experience?       I have had many OBE's where I have come across other beings.  Most of them are terrifying and I'm happy to report that I don't have them much anymore and if I do I don't come across beings anymore.  This OBE was different, it was like she knew I would wake up and communicate with her. This OBE was pleasant, where others aren't.
