I was driving home from work one afternoon and traffic was heavy as usual.  Ahead of me I saw that traffic was coming to a complete stop and I braked and sat in the hot Florida sun for a couple of minutes.  As there was nothing to do but sit there, I was looking around observing the other drivers and their various levels of aggravation. Directly in front of me was a white pickup truck and I remember looking ahead and seeing him looking back at me in his rear view mirror.  Now this guy was MAD, he was on his cell phone yelling at someone.  I was sitting there thinking how silly all these angry, upset people are, there was obviously an accident ahead of us.  And that is when it happened..... 

I heard, my grandmother's voice and she said, "Move, move, move".  The next thing I know my car had jumped the curb and is sitting on the sidewalk in front of the daycare and I hear squealing brakes and I look to my left in the lane I had just been in and a green pick up truck smashed into the rear end of the truck that I had been sitting behind!!!!  Needless to say, I was more than shaken up.  I have no recollection of either turning the wheel or hitting the gas.  I smelled my grandmother's perfume and I just started crying.  Not because I was sad or upset, it was more a realization that she was surrounding and protecting me as she had done when she was alive.

Was this experience difficult to express in words?  No

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?            No

            Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:    I heard my grandmother as if she was sitting in the sear next to me.  Only three words, "move, move, move".

            Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?  Definitely outside of me

            If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?           There was no difference, her voice was exactly the same.

            Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           No

            Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            No

Did you see the deceased?         No

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      Yes

            What smell, scent, fragrance or odor did you smell?           My grandmother wore one fragrance, Chanel #5.  There was no mistake, it was her perfume.

            Was the smell, scent, fragrance or odor familiar?     Yes, it was the only perfume she ever wore.

            Is there any possibility that the smell, scent, fragrance or odor was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?        No, I do not particularly care for the scent and I have never worn it.

How long did the experience last?        Seconds.

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         Sudden, it happened very quickly.  So quickly in fact that I have no idea how I was able to get out of harm's way.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           No

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was definitely real

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   No

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           No

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No      

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   No
