Experience description:

As I was laying down to sleep , which I was having difficulty with, I was laying on my right side facing the bedroom door I had not long been in bed, maybe only 5 minutes, I felt a presence in the room , you know when you feel someone is near you, it frightened me and I don't normally get frightened, then the muscle of my leg between the hip and the thigh started to spasm in a weird way, sort of like it was moving as if it was the waves of an ocean rippling down my leg , all the time I could feel the presence of whoever was in the room with me . I said to myself if that is you love I won't be scared and then the mattress just behind my back pushed down as if someone lent over and put their weight on the bed behind me. After a while I fell asleep .This was not long after my wife passed and although I was in shock and despair at her sudden passing I was still fully aware of everything  around me . I loved and still love my wife so so much that I am having great difficulty coping with her loss so I am hoping that there is a life after this one and that she is happy and with people she loves and who love her .If I could be certain that that was true I might be able to cope a little better .

When I mentioned this encounter to a friend of my wife and mine I didn't mention about the mattress being pushed down behind my back , Her husband had passed about 20 years before and she said she had the same thing happen , and then the mattress felt like it was being pushed down behind her back . whether this is a common experience or not I don't know but it seems strange that 2 people that know each other and have never mentioned this before should have exactly the same experience.

            Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar? absolutely never felt anything like it before or after

 Did you see the deceased?       No

 Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased? No

 How long did the experience last?      possibly 3 to 4 minutes

 Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?       sudden

 Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?          No

 Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  no

 How do you currently view the reality of your experience?          Experience was probably real

           Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:   just very unsure / would like to believe

           Was the experience dream like in any way?  No

 Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:  frightened

 Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience? Uncertain

 would like to believe that my wife was trying to either comfort me or at least say goodbye

 What was the best and worst part of your experience?     at first I was frightened but then just accepted that it was my wife trying to reach out

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?      Uncertain     not sure what to think about it ,it was as real as anything I have ever experienced but still hard to know exactly what it was
