Experience description:

In a very clear and detailed dream I walked into a room at school with other faculty and staff in the room, but no students. I took a seat in a chair and then realized that my father- in-law was seated beside me on my right. I believe his deceased friend Howard may have been seated on his other side. In the dream I knew he was dead and was pleasantly surprised to see him. I quickly reached out and touched his left leg to see if he was as solid as he appeared. His body was as solid as a living person. He spoke briefly. All I remember is him saying he had not visited my house since before he died. Then the lights in the room blinked and when they came back on the chair was empty and he was gone.

 Was this experience difficult to express in words? No

 Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?      No

           Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:   We talked briefly in the dream.

 Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?         Yes

 I reached over and touched his left leg in the dream.

           Was anything communicated by the touch? That he was solid.

 Did you see the deceased?       Yes

 He looked like he was about 50 years old. Around the age when I first met him.

            How clearly did the deceased appear?            Solid

            How much of the deceased did you see?       All

            Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?           No

            How healthy did the deceased appear to be?            Healthy

 Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased? No

 How long did the experience last?      A couple of minutes.

 Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?          Uncertain

 They seemed fine and pleasant, very casual.

 Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  No

 How do you currently view the reality of your experience?          Experience was definitely real

           Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:   This is not the first experience that I have had like this. I have may other experiences that were more impressive.

           Was the experience dream like in any way?  Yes

 It was a dream.

 Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:  Excited to see him knowing he was dead.

 What was the best and worst part of your experience?          Realizing it occurred on the one year anniversary of his death.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?          Excitement

 Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  No

 Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?         No

 Did you become aware of future events?      No

 Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?      Uncertain

I think I have these abilities to some degree.

 His dead friend Howard may have been with him.
