Experience description:

Jack was my developmentally disabled(mentally handicapped)brother. I had cared for him in some way since I was a child tying his shoe laces to his trustee until he died this month.

I was dreaming when in the dream I saw a small dog we used to have that is long dead. This understanding made me realize I was dreaming and therefore became lucid. The scene changed or moved to a hospital room where my brother lay in the hospital bed which had crisp white sheets. I knew this to be the real Jack's spirit. Totally different and more vivid than any dream Jack. His hair was dark again and he looked years younger. I exclaimed to him how wonderful he looked and that he was getting better. He smiled as he always did but did not answer. I said to Jack that he didn't need his oxygen any more and as he thought of what I said an indentation appeared on his face as if the oxygen tubing pressed into his cheeks although there was no tubing visable. As quick as it appeared the indentation disappeared. After hearing that he was getting better Jack tried to raise his head off the bed up and down a few times testing his strength.

There was a nurse present in the room. She wore a typical white nurses uniform with a nurses cap. Her hair was course, and an unusual blonde which was pulled back and up under the cap. She seemed to be monitoring my interaction with Jack. I felt she was the spirit who made the meeting possible. After Jack tested his neck strength, the 'light' went out of him and I was left with only a dream Jack.I turned to the nurse and said, 'Oh he's gone. It is just an ordinary dream again.' The nurse replied sympathetically that Jack wouldn't always be this way. Meaning in a hospital bed. Then I woke up. I had remained lucid through out the dream until I woke.
