Experience description:

We had a family dog, Char. He was a jet black Labrador. The last few weeks of Char's life was met with, difficulty walking, etc. He was taken to the vet prior and a diagnosis due to his bum hip as his foot kept flopping around. The last few days we had noticed some bloating in his stomach. We decided to take him in and the vet informed us that he had internal bleeding caused by cancer of the spleen. He said we could incorporate chemo but advised us that his quality of life would only be prolonged possibly for a few months. We as a family made the decision that putting Char down would be the right thing to do. We were at the clinic and when he was put to sleep, moments before he laid his head on my moms lap as if he knew what was going to happen and as if he was thankful.

We were all very sad, this dog was in our lives for 9 years - we had rescued him from PAWS and had the chance to create many beautiful memories with him.

I asked god to please let me know Char was okay - I didn't know how Char would come through - but he did in the most beautiful and confirming way that he is here yet... 'there'.

This wasn't a dream, I for one rarely ever remember my dreams and if I do, they are a jumbled mess that often times make no sense whatsoever.

In this I suddenly was standing in my back yard and looked over about 5 feet from me to see my mom (she is still alive) and then we both looked over at the corner of the yard to see Char! He was vibrant, healthy and prancing around with excitement! My mom and I looked at each other and said 'He came to visit us!'

Char ran over to us and we were able to touch him - I ran my fingers through his fur and he swirled around with excitement.

Char then started running towards the back door which leads to the kitchen. (This part of the experience lets me know that he was telling me that we are still together yet in two different realities)

As he ran through the kitchen, his body was able to move through the furniture laid out through the kitchen and living room - however I remember making a mental note that I needed to move around everything to follow him through the house.

At that moment Char ran into the bed room and I woke up.

The feelings I felt were joy, I woke up and shared the news with my parents and they were very happy. I remember the grief I felt started to change into joy - knowing that we will see each other again.

           Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:          Barking

 Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?       Yes

            Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar? Familiar

           Was anything communicated by the touch? I felt as if touching Char and then seeing him run 'through' objects let me know that he is still very much alive, just in a different form.

            Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience? No

 Did you see the deceased?       Yes

 Vibrant, full of life, joyful.

            How clearly did the deceased appear?            VERY CLEAR, solid and then transparent.

            How much of the deceased did you see?       All

            Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?   Same age yet very strong and vibrant.

            How healthy did the deceased appear to be?           Very healthy.

            Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience? No

 Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased? No

 How long did the experience last?      It felt about a few minutes

 Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?      Beginning to somewhat of an end.

 Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?          Yes

 Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?          No

 How do you currently view the reality of your experience?          Experience was definitely real

           Was the experience dream like in any way?  No

 Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:  Excited and very joyful.

 Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience? Yes

 I was so happy and appreciative that Char was able to visit with me - to let me know he was okay.

 What was the best and worst part of your experience?          None

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience? No      Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?   Yes          Life continues on

 Death Compacts are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies first will try to contact the other(s).  Have you ever made such a compact?         No

 Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?         No

What emotions did you feel during the experience?         Very happy.

 Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  No

 Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?         No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?  Yes

 Somewhat, in this experience I felt 'transported' to this (almost as if it was to make me aware that this is REAL and not a 'dream') That part is hard to explain.

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?  Yes

 My mom

 Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described above?     No
