Experience description:

Alex left us Friday evening, the 7th of Oct at his home, with his wife and one daughter at his side. My wife and I arrived soon thereafter. After his body was collected, we left to go home. On drive home, I noticed a large fire near our house, within a residential area. It seemed as if a house were fully engulfed in flames, but I felt no compulsion to call fire dept. When we arrived home, an electrical component of car wouldn't turn off until I pulled off the battery cable. Next AM, tried to troubleshoot problem with car, to no avail, tried to drive to mechanic, car completely died en route. At this point, no sense of it being paranormal.

Visited Mother-in-law 2 days later, she and her daughter had witnessed lights coming on in the room where my father-in-law both died and had spent much of the past 5 years (tv room). Lights came on 6 times in the 3 days immediately after his death, several times in subsequent fashion to poignant conversation regarding his life. After leaving the in-laws house, I went to work; I was installing equipment for a customer at their home. The piece of equipment I was replacing inexplicably turned on despite the switches for it being in "off" position whilst I was preparing to remove it. This was not the original position with the equipment, and I eventually had to turn off breaker just to get it to stop. At this point, I felt strongly that my father--in-law was beside me...he had trained me for the work I was doing, and I felt as if he was happy to be there for the installation. Finished installation, and when breaker was turned on, the new piece of equipment did not turn on until I hit the switch for it.

On the 14th Oct., my wife awoke before me and went downstairs to do some gardening. She noticed that, all of a sudden, the tv in our kitchen upstairs had turned on, volume full blast. I was sound asleep during this. We have 2 dogs, both of which were with her downstairs, and the tv is very old, has a very archaic remote which we keep on kitchen counter. Outside of the 2 of us and the 2 dogs, no other residents of our house.

I am very interested in learning of any device which can be triggered by electrical impulse to have a definite response. Was thinking of something along the lines of a series of levers with perhaps 5 Icons on end of which, lever to be released by a circuit that would only open to direct electrical contact.  I am sure that there are more sophisticated devices, but I truly believe that something that is simplistic in nature is preferable.

Was this experience difficult to express in words?

No

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?

Yes

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?

Yes  Content

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?

Experience was definitely real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:

The details of lights turning on, equipment turning on, televisions turning on, etc was very much real, and seen in the case of the lights by not only family members but also a nurse from the hospice. As a whole, the experiences have no "rational" explanation, although it would be possible to parse each one to some type of glitch. However, the feeling that my father-in-law was with me was very powerful, and although I was sad at his passing, it had been 2 years coming and was "prepared" for it and certainly was not in a state of great grief or shock about his death. Therefore I don't believe that I had any compulsion to create his presence in my own consciousness.

Was the experience dream like in any way?

Yes

Yes, the fire in the hillside community should have triggered some sort of panic response, but didn't...I somehow attributed it to more of a personal nature, even with my wife also witnessing it, than something that had to be "dealt with". The equipment turning on seemed to be dreamlike in that there was no apparent way to avert it.

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:

Difficult to share...I felt very warm-hearted when I sensed my father-in-law's presence, similar to a sense of accomplishment.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.

I would just like to concentrate more on confirmation tools , i.e. the simple machine that I described. I believe that these experiences on a personal level are evidence, but I would like to give my father-in-law the opportunity to communicate with a degree of detail what he is experiencing. I take these signs as proof that he is interested in affirming something that is very significant about life after death.
