Experience description:

I've been hesitant to share this but here it goes. I lost a close friend to suicide four years ago. I was with him and his family at the hospital when he passed. We had been there quite a long time and I was exhausted when I got home and fell asleep almost immediately. I wasn't asleep for a long time but I had this really vivid dream that I was following my friend up a staircase outside a huge pyramid. I could see him clear as day and the image was so crisp. I could see the color of the skin, even the pores of the skin, his clothes which were made of white linen. He was in a hurry and really exited about reaching the top of this enormous pyramid. I don't remember there being anything surrounding the pyramid, just a sunny sky. I didn't see the sun, it was just a Bright Light shining all over.

There were other people walking on other stairs to reach the top but we were on ours, separate from the others. The pyramid was flat on the top with columns and some kind of roof instead of the typical pointy top and I somehow knew that there was countless of rooms inside. Like a library and I KNEW that he would meet his birthmother inside and that he would get all the answers when he got inside. I suddenly had to stop because I had an understanding that I couldn't go with him in there. I then woke up.

He was exited and happy, almost ran up the steps of the pyramid.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?          Experience was definitely real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:   It was the most vivid dream I've ever had. I still remember it and it was nothing like I would have imagined a possible afterlife prior to this dream.

Was the experience dream like in any way?  Yes

It was a dream but happened as soon as I fell asleep.

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:        I was sorry he was leaving but at the same time happy for him, that he would get to meet his birthmother again and get all the answers to his questions.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?          Yes

Though I can sometimes doubt that it's real I now feel that we will meet again, that there is an afterlife.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?    Seeing him happy was the best part. Losing him was the worst.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience? Yes    More spiritual.

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?         Yes    It started a search for something more. Answers to if there really is an afterlife. Though I'm sometimes scared that it's just wishful thinking I'm now more at peace with dying and when people die because I believe that there really is an afterlife.

Death Compacts are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies first will try to contact the other(s).  Have you ever made such a compact?         Yes

I have made such a compact with a friend that is still alive.

My friend who died by suicide just said that I would join him later on, when it was my time. This was when he was still alive.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?         I was in a crisis due to his suicide but it started a spiritual path for me. I wanted to learn more. Since then I've had several dream but absolutely felt his presence, his scent.

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?         No

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes

I seem to already know what was inside the pyramid we were climbing, that he would meet his deceased Mother and gain knowledge in there. I also knew that I couldn't follow him in there.

Did you become aware of future events?      No

Did you see a light?        Yes

We were surrounded by Light  as if there was a sun that lit up the sky but I didn't the the source of the Light.

Have you shared this experience with others?

Yes    Most tend to view it like a dream. My more spiritual friend believes that I followed him a bit along the way in the afterlife.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?   No

Were there any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience? No

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience? No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?                    Yes
